Daniel Goleman popularized the concept of emotional intelligence. He broke the concept down into four elements: self-awareness, self-regulation, empathy, and social skill. Further research has expanded on this idea, with some experts including motivation as an additional element.
So what exactly are these elements? How do they interact? Crucially how can we improve our emotional intelligence in our personal relationships and at work?
